What is a Local Content Policy?

A “Local Content Policy” is a policy implemented by governments to ensure that the economic benefits of natural resources, such as oil, gas, minerals, etc., are maximized for the local population and the national economy. The policy typically requires companies involved in the exploitation of natural resources to conduct a certain percentage of their activities, such as employment, supply chain, and investments, locally. This is done to create local jobs, stimulate local businesses, and strengthen the local economy.

Hereby, we remind the Surinamese government of its responsibility and encourage it to develop robust local content legislation that serves the interests of the Surinamese people.

We deserve good policy!
