Grand Opening “Yogh Hospitality” Business Hotel in Paramaribo
President Chan Santokhi Unveils Paramaribo’s Newest Gem: A Spectacular Hotel with 9 Floors and 108 Exquisite Suites
The “Yogh Hospitality” Business Hotel located at the Domineestraat, was inaugurated on Thursday evening by President Chan Santokhi.
“Yogh Hospitality exudes global allure and aspirations. The hotel spans a total area of 20,000 m2, employing already over 400 people. It boasts 9 floors with 108 fantastic suites, a business center, and 3 commercial spaces,” shared director Jules Ramlakhan with the attendees. The multimillion-dollar investments were made from the profits of the Yokohama Group of Companies.
Ramlakhan provided insights into the hotel’s layout, featuring staircases and elevators. Each floor has a dedicated electrical and technical space for the safe operation of individual levels. There are automatic sprinkler and fire hydrant spaces for everyone’s safety in the building.
- Basement: laundry room, storage spaces, staff area, and technical room,
- Ground floor: hotel lobby, travel agency, bakery, patisserie, and casino.
- First floor: for future destinations, expansion of business activities, and facilities
- Second, third, and fifth floors: suites
- Fourth floor: pool, spa (sauna, hammam), gym, meeting room, kitchen, specialty restaurant, wine cellar, and 4 exclusive suites, VIP dining room
- Sixth floor: restaurant, kitchen, ballroom, banquet, pre-function space (area outside the ballroom for buffets and social gatherings)
- Seventh floor: exclusive bar and restaurant
- Eighth floor: exclusive bar and restaurant with city view
In addition to President Santokhi as the guest of honor, the Guyanese government was represented by the Minister of Legal Affairs and Attorney General, Mohabir Anil Nandlall. He noted that the Yokohama Group is well-represented in Guyana across various sectors. He remarked on the beauty of the hotel and expressed satisfaction that Yokohama is building one of the largest and most modern hotels in his country. President Santokhi emphasized that Yogh Hospitality will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the development of the tourism sector. He noted that the capital is in the hands of the private sector, and entrepreneurs should receive support from the government, aligning with the government’s policy.
Ramlakhan shared that the project started in 2018 and “withstood Covid, a change of government, a deep crisis, the well-known Ease of Doing Business in Suriname, the consequences of global turmoil, and the prolonged, continuous boycott by major banks. This boycott is regrettable as both Suriname and the banks miss out on substantial earnings. However, where there’s a will, there’s a way; where there’s no way, there’s a detour. After all, all investments have been made through the profits of the companies belonging to the Yokohama Group.” However, not everything was challenging.
Yogh Hospitality is a company belonging to the Yokohama Group of Companies. All these companies are Surinamese-owned! Here and abroad, Ramlakhan stated, listing them neatly.
