Surinamese President Santokhi prepares for first official trip to China

The President of Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi, is about to undertake his first trip to China, as announced by the state-owned Suriname Communication Service (CDS).

This revelation comes after a recent visit by delegates from China’s Central Television (CCT) earlier this week.

Santokhi’s outlook In an official statement, the CDS outlined the objectives behind President Santokhi’s upcoming trip.

It aims to project into the future, promote tangible visions, and explore avenues for new partnerships, with an emphasis on strengthening investment.

In addition, the President aims to pave the way for Surinamese entrepreneurs in China and provide mutual opportunities for Chinese businesses in Suriname.

CCTV’s Insights While no specific timeline has been released for President Santokhi’s visit to Beijing, the CDS emphasized that during discussions with Santokhi, CCTV representatives offered a concise overview of the channel and its range of services.

CCTV: A Window into China’s Cultural Landscape CCTV stands as the premier television network in China, broadcasting on 51 channels and reaching over one billion viewers in six languages.

Its diverse programming encompasses a spectrum of content, highlighting the nation’s cultural landscape and societal nuances.

Maintaining the Sino-Surinamese bond Emphasizing the enduring nature of the relationship between China and Suriname spanning more than 170 years, the CDS emphasized its continued relevance and effectiveness.

This historic camaraderie has not only catalyzed social and technological advances, but has also brought significant economic benefits to Suriname.
