As CEO & Co-Owner of Safety & Security Academy Suriname (SSAS) and CEO of Schalkwijk Consultancy, Sharon Schalkwijk is a driving force in education, security, and human resource development. With over 20 years of experience, she has shaped Suriname’s education landscape as a teacher, mentor, and policy advisor.

Her academic journey includes a Master of Education (2020) and extensive training in leadership, coaching, and competency-based education across various international institutions. Beyond her role in education, Sharon has played a key part in developing three private academies and continues to advocate for accessibility to knowledge through her role as Chairman of the Boekenportaal Suriname Foundation.

In 2021, she co-founded SSAS, a premier training academy providing certified safety and security courses. Committed to empowering individuals and businesses, she champions workforce development, with a special focus on local content.

Sharon is known for her energy, problem-solving mindset, and passion for education and human capital development. Whether guiding professionals or strengthening organizations, her mission is clear: creating opportunities, transferring knowledge, and building a safer, more skilled future for all.
