Suriname Gears Up for Energy Boom at SEOGS 2024

The Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit (SEOGS) is back for its fourth edition, positioning itself as the leading energy event in Suriname and the Caribbean. Held under the theme “The Next Stage of Success,” the summit boasts an expanded program with an exhibition hall, executive summit, technical conferences, workshops, and empowerment programs for women and youth.

This year’s SEOGS coincides with a surge in Suriname’s oil industry. TotalEnergies, operator of Block 58, is planning the country’s first large-scale offshore oil development, valued at US$9 billion. Discoveries are on the rise as well, with Petronas’ recent success in Block 52. Experts believe these discoveries hold significant potential for future development.

Suriname’s total discovered oil reserves are estimated at 4.6 billion barrels of oil equivalent, with gas making up nearly half. With only 40% of its offshore blocks licensed, Suriname boasts vast untapped potential for future exploration and development.
